Servings: 12
Ingredients
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 3 cups cake flour sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 1/2 ounces chocolate syrup
Instructions
- Cream together shortening and sugar. Add one egg at a time, beating well
- after each addition. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to creamed
- mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with buttermilk.
- Add vanilla and blend well. Pour half the batter mixture into a well
- greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Add chocolate syrup to remaining
- batter and mix. Pour chocolate mixture over top of other batter and fold
