Vanilla Layer Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 extra large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 2 extra large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour three 9-inch cake pans.
  • Cream butter and sugar. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk and vanilla.
  • Pour into prepared pans and bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool and frost as desired.
  • Notes:
  • For two 9-inch layers or a 13x9 inch pan, follow the same instructions.
