Vanilla Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 4 eggs 3 whole plus 1 egg white
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Boiling Water

Instructions

  • Mix together the buttermilk, baking soda. Set aside.
  • Combine the shortening, sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs. Mix well.
  • Sift together the all purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Combine all ingredients together and mix well.
  • Add boiling water to mixture, combine and pour into greased pan.
  • Frost with Quick and Almost Buttercream Icing
