Twin Oaks French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 12 slices white or whole wheat bread

Instructions

  • Melt butter with sugar and cinnamon. Spread mixture on bottom of a 9 X 13" pan. Lay slices of bread in pan in 2 layers of six slices.
  • Beat milk and eggs together and pour over bread. Be careful to moisten all the bread, especially the edges. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
  • Next morning, bake, covered, at 350° for 40 minutes. Remove foil and turn over each piece (top & bottom slice, together) . Bake an additional 10 minutes. Place each double slice on a warm platter and serve with syrup or powdered sugar.
