Ingredients: 1/2 cup Buttermilk; 1 teaspoon Baking Soda; 1/2 cup Shortening; 2 cups Sugar; 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract; 4 eggs (3 whole plus 1 egg white); 2 cups All Purpose Flour; 1 teaspoon Baking Powder; 1/2 teaspoon Salt; 1 cup Boiling Water

Vanilla Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup Buttermilk
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 cup Shortening
2 cups Sugar
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
4 eggs 3 whole plus 1 egg white
2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Boiling Water

Instructions

Mix together the buttermilk, baking soda. Set aside.
Combine the shortening, sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs. Mix well.
Sift together the all purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Combine all ingredients together and mix well.
Add boiling water to mixture, combine and pour into greased pan.
Frost with Quick and Almost Buttercream Icing
