Shrimp Creole

Ingredients
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 cup celery chopped
- 1 medium green pepper chopped
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 14 1/2 ounces canned tomatoes diced
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- black pepper to taste
- dash hot pepper sauce cayenne pepper, or crushed red pepper, to taste
- 2 lbs. raw shrimp shells removed
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
Instructions
- Sauté onion, celery and green pepper in hot olive oil. Add minced garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, sugar, chili powder, Worcestershire, black pepper and hot sauce. Simmer uncovered 15-20 minutes or until desired thickness. Add shrimp; simmer and stir until just done(shrimp turns pink). Mix cornstarch with l tablespoon cold water and stir into skillet until thickened. Adjust seasonings. Serve over Jasmine rice.
