Dot’s Pound Cake

Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine softened
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Cream margarine and Crisco with sugar. Add eggs one at a time beating after each. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk. Add vanilla.
  • Bake in a greased and floured tube pan with bottom lined with a double layer of waxed paper for 1 hour 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Cool in pan for 20 minutes before turning out on a rack to cool.
  • CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE: Add 1/2 cup cocoa
